The Illinois Society for the Prevention of Blindness was founded in 1916 to reduce preventable causes of blindness. Dedicated to the care, protection, and preservation of sight, ISPB programs stress education, eye safety, information and research.

James A. McKechnie, Jr

ISPB’s former executive director, James McKechnie, passes away.

Jim served as ISPB’s executive director from 1989 to 2009 and became a recognizable leader in the promotion of vision health not only in Illinois but the entire US through his national affiliations. He led a very full, active life with his wife, Nike. We are grateful for his long commitment to ISPB.
